1. Because I've done all this research over 8 weeks into the background of Petbarn as well as the target audience, current and past advertising campaigns, techniques and equipment required, logistics, costs, client's style and a million other aspects so I'm basically an expert on the look and feel of Petbarn which is ideal in creating a worth wile set of images that can actually be used.
2. I'm obviously dedicated to the cause (because of all this research I've done and I haven't even taken a photo yet)
3. I like pets, so I can work with them which is useful because 'petbarn' involves pets.
4. I;m a student so I'll probably give you a copy of my work in exchange for letting me take photos of your store
5. I'm a good photographer! I can make high quality work!

Week 7 - Address the requirements for the capture of the studio images eg objects, props, equipment, costs, timeline ect
Studio Objects
1 x close up image
-A mouse cat toy with coulorful background
1 x glassware
-Fish Bowl
1 x chrome/shiny object
-A horse stirrup or a bit for a horse's mouth
Example:
1 x image demonstrating camera movements
-Still not sure what this means exactly, ask Geoff?
2 images of any of the above catogories
List of required equipment
-Camera
-Tripod
-Lenses macro, 50mm and Zoom
Cost
I wont really be buying new equipment or anything, but I might have to buy the props and subjects like fishbowls and cat toys.
Week 6 - Adress the requirements for the capture of the location images eg. logistics, props, equipment, timeline ect.
The location options:
There are 3 Pet Barn stores in Canberra - Tuggeranong, Fyshwick and Belconnen. I've gone and had a look at 2 of the three stores, Belconnen being too far out of my way. The Pet barn store located in Fyschwick has plenty of room to get back and get a wide shot and it looks a bit more organised. The store in Tuggeranong is always really busy and would be hard to photograph because it has a fence around the outside.
Logistics
The Photo would probably require a wide angle lens to get the whole store in as well as a tripod and...a camera (duh).
Access
The Petbarn store in Fyshwick (which I will probably photograph) is easy to access because it has plenty of room over the road so I wont even have to be on the property itself. I probably wont need a property release because I wont be singling any people out, I wont be disrupting any customers, I'm just taking a photo of the building really. If anyone has a problem, I can just come back later or take a photo at the Tuggeranong location.
Costs
Petrol, I dunno, electricity to charge my camera batteries?

Week 5- Identify the techniques/equipment you will need to achieve a cohesive portfolio in keeping with the clients style.
The obvious equipment I'll need to create a "cohesive portfolio in keeping with the clients style" would be
-A camera
-the required lenses for the task (preferably a macro for close up, a tilt shift for interior and exterior, 14mm wide angle for landscape and a normal prime lens like a 50mm for studio work or a zoom lens).
The techniques I'll need to use would be making use of the tilt shift lens to make sure the perspective and converging lines are correct, proper use of a tripod when necessary (like in macro/close up photography) and correct t choice of aperture/shutter speed for the appropriate exposure/ depth of Field. Because alot of the images feature animals and kids, a faster shutter speed would be better.
But for my products and stuff, it'll be pretty straight forward. White background, usual choice of lenses. Same with the stitched image and industrial image
-I thought maybe I could take several photos of long fish tanks and stitch them together?
-Macro photo of cat toys
-Architectural exterior will be of the pet barn store in fyshwick (less traffic, more accessible)

Week 4 - Who is your client's target audience and how will your images help to attract them
Petbarn's target audience is obviously people who own pets. However because there is a huge variety of people who own pets, the advertisements have to reach quite a wide audience. There also has to be a wide variate of services to cover different pet needs, from cat litter trays, to dog chew yours, fish tanks to pet grooming facilities.
My images will cover a variety of pet products that will let the customer view different things they can buy for their pets. Having visuals will make the choice easier for online purchases. Being pet lovers, the target audience will appreciate images of cute, happy animals and coliurful pretty products which conveys the idea that buying products from petbarn = happy pets! It seems obvious. I went and took photos of a dead fox or a sad puppy in a cage, the whole theme would be shifted from 'buy products to make your pets happy!" to something about animal cruelty or something completely contrary to the aim of petbarn ( to make your pets happy by providing them with quality food, toys and housing).

Week 3 - Critique your client's past and current advertising campaigns
Pet barn's advertising campaigns feature relationships between pet owners and their pets, focusing on their similarities and adding comments like 'spoil your pets'. This is designed to give the viewer a sense of 'spoiling your best friend' because your personalities reflect each other so much, you must have spent lots of time together, why not reward them for being such good pals?
